The hardest part of appraising luxury designer goods is keeping up with the changes and updates by the designers. For example, in 2010 Cartier updated the screw system on their icon Love bracelet, and hand-made items can have subtle differences. Sometimes products can differ from manufactured batches as well. In addition, every luxury brand has its own level of technology, and as we all know technology is always changing. A good appraisers has to be alert, aware, and always ‘in the game’. An appraiser that works part-time or who has retired is likely not going to yield the best results.
