It’s not unusual to find fine art at Newport Beach estate sales or Corona Del Mar estate sales. The cities are known for sophistication, high value estates, cars, designer goods and alike, so it was not a surprise to find art like Lichtenstein, Al Held, Warhol, and more at our newest clients property in Newport Beach California.
The “museum modern” home was clearly decorated with fine art in mind. The simple sensibility of all their choices showcased their art so well.
In the family room where there was no other color, the primary colors of Red, Yellow, and Blue of the Lichtenstein piece popped. The piece entitled “in the car” is a classic piece found typically found in mid century homes. Hung on the wall between family room and kitchen it brought an unexpected punch of ‘cartoon’ that no one could have anticipated.
In the office we found another Lichtenstein, this one from 1973.
Also in the office was a Mies Van Der Rohe day bed, and B&B Italia chrome and glass desk. Fantastic office furnishings for either man or woman.
The Grand Poobah however was found in the living room.
A piece by Al Held leaned against the longest all White wall. Other furnishings in the room were Minotti, chandelier by Schonbek, Venini art glass, and more.
We were honored to be trusted with this homeowners treasures, and wait till you see what we found in the wifes closet!
